Xient will be represented by an office in the Teknopark of the Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi in Istanbul from February 2022. A subsidiary was established specifically for the opening of its second location - Xient Bilgi Teknolojileri Yazilim Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.
The IT consulting company from Cologne sees the new location in Turkey as a versatile opportunity to expand its current core business in the development of cloud and AI solutions. A special focus will be on applications for existing IT requirements from the European region, for example.
The company also plans to expand its current range of services. Not only the Xient Solution Factory for the development of customer-specific applications, but also other managed services for operational support are to be further expanded from there. In addition, Xient also intends to include low-code applications in its service portfolio for the benefit of its customers. To support the implementation of the project, the company has also brought on board two renowned professors from Marmara University, so that academic exchange in Turkey is also ensured from the outset.
"The new location in Istanbul is a very important step for us. On the one hand, it acts as an extended workbench for our projects in the DACH region, so that we can further scale our existing projects. Furthermore, it offers us access to important business areas and new technologies as well as business models driven by artificial intelligence or IoT. In particular, the less regulated market environment provides a special dynamic at this point," explains Yavuz Yildiz, Managing Director of Xient GmbH.
With more than 5,000 R&D employees and software developers currently employed at Teknopark, and more than 300 R&D and incubation projects being worked on, Xient believes the location is particularly well suited.
In addition, Turkey is a highly attractive location overall. Compared to other countries, the country has a relatively young population. The average age in 2020 was 31.5 years. As a result, the market environment is very lively and has a high affinity for new technical applications and modern business models. A closer look at the market confirms this: A number of successful applications have already penetrated the European market from Turkey. Significant examples are the online retailer Trendyol and the on-demand delivery service Getir.
But the fact that Istanbul was chosen as the location is by no means a coincidence. "It's no coincidence that the city is regarded as a melting pot between the Orient and the Occident. In economic terms, too, it is the bridge between Europe and Asia. We want to make targeted use of the associated advantages," says Yavuz Yildiz.
