Dashboards are important visual aids for decision-makers to quickly and easily evaluate important key figures and thus recognize trends. Our customer, the largest automotive group in Europe, approached us with the task of expanding and redesigning the group's own dashboarding on the basis of the existing SAP FIORI applications. A challenging task in an environment where even small errors can have serious consequences.
The core tasks included comprehensively mapping the KPI analysis graphically and recording the degree of efficiency of manufacturing and production in the customer system. The dashboard solution we developed is used within the Group to analyze the costs of vehicle, model and model series.
Agile development in a highly sensitive environment
In implementing the challenges, our specialists used their extensive experience in SAP dashboarding and KPI analysis. As certified SAP FIORI/UI5 developers, they were able to consistently implement the required results.
For the development of the new dashboards, we used the tried-and-tested SCRUM principles in close consultation with the specialist departments involved. The Group updates the programs used in its environments to the latest versions on a quarterly basis. Our many years of expertise in agile software development according to SCRUM enabled us to meet maximum quality assurance standards despite these short development cycles.
The scope of our developments played a decisive role in all the innovations we introduced. In a highly competitive environment such as the automotive industry, a decision based on incorrect data can have consequences worth millions. In addition, the work was carried out at a time when the introduction of new electric car model series at our customer was a top priority. This was no less than one of the most important milestones in the Group's history.
Modern dashboards and consistent data situation
Despite the complex initial situation, our consultants and developers were able to successfully implement the modernization of the group dashboarding during ongoing operations. The aggregation of the KPIs is associated with greater effort due to the non-standardized system architecture across the group. Nevertheless, the dashboarding solution we created supports decision-makers in optimizing production processes.
