The in-memory database SAP HANA is the basis of modern SAP installations. It is therefore all the more essential to convert existing systems to HANA as efficiently as possible. Our customer, a group from the specialty chemicals industry, approached us with the task of migrating an in-house posting engine add-on based on the SAP SEM-BCS solution SAP HANA. As an expert in group consolidation, Xient GmbH was the right contact for this.  

One of the biggest challenges our software architects faced with regard to the project was replacing a number of applications, some of which were no longer up to date, with current HANA-capable alternatives. Due to release differences and licensing issues, it was also necessary to cleanly separate an SAP BW system (Business Warehouse) and SAP BW BCS system (Business Consolidation).  

For this purpose, our business analysts and experts performed an extensive analysis of all existing data of the legacy applications. This ensured a successful migration to the target architecture. Our extensive expertise with in-memory technologies served as the foundation for the successful HANA migration.  

Group is fit for the HANA future 

Xient GmbH developed a fully HANA-capable solution in the course of the modernization. This replaces the group's previous custom posting engine. The engine used has already proven itself at the highest level at one of our customers. at the highest level. Of course, we customized the posting engine to the requirements of the new customer and optimized it for SAP HANA.

As part of the HANA migration of the architecture, our developers created extensive scripts and test procedures. With these, the technology changeover proceeded smoothly and without interruption. All steps - i.e., from the initial analysis of the existing systems to the conversion to the modern target architecture - were worked out and accompanied down to the last detail by the Xient developers in constant exchange with the decision-makers in the group. The result of the successful collaboration is a modern and future-proof group consolidation system due to its HANA suitability.
